circa 2011

his little cheeks are bursting with it
it’s almost possible to smile
that mile-wide toothy grin
one drop
spills from his lips
and laughter sends it up through his nose
and all over the show
Milk everywhere
we’re in hysterics
and the sensation as it reaches our ankles
and pours into our shoes is not entirely unpleasant
we put the kids on the table
as the Milk slowly rises up the walls
we’re still laughing
so he takes another mouthful and repeats the feat
the milk reaches our waists
the kids are in our arms
no cause for alarm
but the kids start to cry
and it makes me wonder
how much milk do we really need?
